Very
soon Colombian musicians began implementing the new style from New York and
began appearing good level groups like Tesos Fruko and even toured the United
States, exposing to the world the sauce made in Colombia. From this group
emerged that is for many the epitome of the sauce of your country, Joe Arroyo
who soon became one of the most important as it symbolizes undoubtedly the high
point of fusion of salsa and traditional music of Colombia through multiple
combinations with vernacular rhythms. With hits such as the famous
"Rebellion" where racial violence complaint with the refrain "Do
not hit the black" or "Oh Daddy" full of religious fervor, Joe
Arroyo has remained with his group called the Truth a level of artistic quality
that does not maintain commitments to the prevailing commercialism.
The
other major group is Colombian Grupo Niche was formed in 1976 by its director Jairo Varela, who as a
composer and musical director has managed to maintain a very peculiar style,
despite personnel changes. Among its many successes, we can mention "Buenaventura
and Caney", "Cali Pachanguero", "Del pa'ca bridge" and
"Ana Mile", from his early days and more recently the amazing success
of "An adventure" included in Sky disk of drums.
One
of the people who helped form the original sound cool Niche was Alexis Lozano,
arranger and producer of the first four years, who after his separation from
the group in 1986, the Orchestra Guayacán form with which, little by little, is
making headway in the competitive world of salsa in Colombia. His first major
success comes in 1991, when it achieves placed in the top ten groups in
Colombia and wins the Cali Fair, in its 1991 to 1992 with the song, "Hey,
look, see" in close race against Grupo Niche and Joe Arroyo.
With
the participation of these three groups spearheaded, Colombia has been able to
place at the head of the international world of salsa, seizing markets
throughout Latin America, moving the shaft salsa New York and San Juan, Puerto
Rico to Cali and Barranquilla, hence helping to spread this kind in the world.
