JOE ARROYO
In the mid 70s, Arroyo became leader of Latin Brothers, with this band trombone and violin had the opportunity to edit excellent albums. He also recorded some songs at that time with the band leaders. In 1981 he formed his own group, The Truth, whose debut album is titled Arroyando. In 1983 he nearly lost their lives due to drug abuse.
In 1985 he played a theme on the album came from the band Alberto Barros Titans, beginning a fruitful collaboration. Barros played trombone and helped arrange some of the discs Arroyo and La Verdad. Charlie Pla, brother of Latino leader and interpreter Roberto Pla timbales, percussion dealt with the truth in several of his albums.
In 1989 he performed at the Empire Ballroom in London. His albums Fire On My Mind (1988), In Action (1990) and War of the silent (1991) were published in the UK through Island Records subsidiary, Mango. The album Fire in My Mind (1989) contains a piano solo Chelito de Castro and several songs influenced by African music and contemporary salsa.
In 1990, because Arroyo had won the Gold Award in the Congo Barranquilla Carnival numerous times, created the Super Congo de Oro award for him, so that he could give other bands a chance to qualify for the prize. On July 19, 2003, the eve of Independence Day of the country, the Colombian community of New York paid tribute crowded.
In addition to playing a variety of traditional Latin rhythms like salsa, son, cumbia montuno and native, Joe Arroyo experienced and developed, from the fusion of Colombian and Caribbean rhythms, a style that would be called a shunt name: the Joesón.
